I am pleased to announce the new website of the National Silkworm Seed Organization (NSSO) with updated information about our prestigious organization developed by the CSB-NSSO team. The Central Silk Board (CSB) is responsible for developing a sustainable silk industry, with the Silkworm Seed Sector including NSSO playing a crucial role. CSB-NSSO focuses on enhancing silkworm seed production through advanced technologies and mechanization. With 75 years of service to the silk industry, CSB actively engages stakeholders in the mulberry silkworm seed sector to ensure quality production and distribution of disease-free silkworm seeds. The CSB-NSSO plays a crucial role in the country’s mulberry silk production, particularly bivoltine silk, by supplying high-quality bivoltine hybrid silkworm seed nationwide. Our advanced technology in producing quality silkworm seed, state-of-the-art Cold Storage Plants, and efficient supply chain ensure consistent quality and performance in the field. The CSB-NSSO maintains the highest standards in seed production. During the last decade, transitioning from Silk-samagra schemes has led to strategic changes in planning and execution at CSB-NSSO. We are committed to achieving the 2025-26 targets and aligning with Vision 2030 set by the Central Silk Board. Our goal is to produce more than 400 lakh bivoltine hybrid DFLs annually to support the national bivoltine raw silk production targets.
In the past year, NSSO achieved a record seed production at an impressive recovery rate of 65.50 g per kg of seed cocoons. The contribution of Adopted Seed Rearers and Basic Seed Farms was instrumental in this success. We aim to involve more private seed producers to enhance commercial bivoltine seed production. To ensure quality control, CSB-NSSO has implemented the Central Seed Act, registering seed farmers, producers, and chawki rearers, and providing training and awareness programs. I extend my gratitude to the NSSO team, the Member Secretary of the Central Silk Board, and our customers for their support. We look forward to continued success and growth. Finally, I appreciate the CSB-NSSO team for developing the website with new information and a database. Of course, the website requires a good update, and I hope that in the coming days the NSSO team will fulfill our dreams.
