All the nineteen Silkworm Seed Production Centres of National Silkworm Seed Organisation have the rare distinction of holding the ISO 9001:2008 certificates for maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS). The silkworm Seed Production Centres are situated at Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chintamani, Ramanagara, Malavalli, Vijayapura in Karnataka, Hosur, Dharmapuri, and Thirupattur in Tamil Nadu, Chittoor, Madanapalle, and Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh, Dehradun in Uttarakhand, Kalitha, Dakshinbavanipur, Raiganj, and Berhampore in West Bengal, and Palakkad in Kerala.
All the Silkworm Seed Production Centres are progressing towards continual improvement of quality management system through the use of Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, Analysis of data, Internal quality audit, Management review meetings, and corrective and preventive actions.
The maintenance of QMS has resulted in a considerable reduction in non-conforming seeds, thereby ensuring minimum complaints from farmers. Now, the National Silkworm Seed Organization has established its own brand name in the production of mulberry commercial silkworm seeds.
